‘Book Club: The Next Chapter’ Review: Cinema Pinot Grigio

Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen take a trip to Italy and don’t read as much in this comedy sequel.

Book clubs have long been a popular way for individuals to come together and share their love of reading. But what happens when a group of four lifelong friends Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen take a trip to Italy and don't read as much as they used to? The answer lies in the hilarious sequel "Book Club The Next Chapter."

In this comedy film, we follow the adventures of the four friends as they navigate the ups and downs of life and love. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Italian countryside the women are faced with unexpected challenges and opportunities that force them to reexamine their priorities and the meaning of friendship.

While the first "Book Club" film focused heavily on the women's shared love of literature, this sequel takes a slightly different approach. Instead of reading and discussing books the friends enjoy the finer things in life like sipping on glasses of Pinot Grigio and taking in the local cinema. And while some may argue that this shift in focus detracts from the original film's premise, it actually adds a fresh and entertaining twist.

One of the standout performances in "Book Club: The Next Chapter" is undoubtedly Diane Keaton. She brings her signature wit and charm to the role of Diane, a woman who's grappling with the idea of starting a new romance after being single for so long. Jane Fonda also delivers a memorable performance as Vivian, a successful businesswoman who's struggling to find love after years of living life on her own terms.

Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen round out the cast with Bergen playing the role of Sharon, a judge who's experiencing a major life change and Steenburgen portraying Carol a woman who's struggling to keep the spark alive in her marriage. Together the four actresses have a natural chemistry that makes it easy to root for their characters and get invested in their individual storylines.

In terms of the film's cinematography, "Book Club: The Next Chapter" is a feast for the eyes. The Italian setting is breathtakingly beautiful, and the filmmakers do an excellent job of capturing the country's vibrant culture and stunning landscapes. The scenes featuring the women enjoying glasses of Pinot Grigio and taking in a local cinema are particularly enjoyable, and it's hard not to feel a sense of envy as you watch them living their best lives.

Overall, "Book Club The Next Chapter" is a must-watch for anyone looking for a lighthearted and enjoyable comedy. While it may not have the same focus on literature as the original film it more than makes up for it with its strong performances beautiful setting and entertaining storyline. So pour yourself a glass of Pinot Grigio and settle in for a fun ride with these four fabulous friends.
